Plisenvelopes
A commissioned family of sculptural envelopes — irregular flaps, four deckled edges, calligraphed addresses, sealed in wax.
We stopped buying envelopes. Every shape here is folded from a single dyed sheet, with the deckle left on all four edges so the flap never lines up twice.
Addresses are written in pointed-pen italic, one envelope at a time, in an ink mixed to sit a half tone lighter than the paper's own shadow.
The botanical seal is cut from a brass die we had engraved for the studio; the wax is poured slightly cool so it keeps its rough shoulder.
