Rougelips

A single lipstick kiss, screen printed in three passes of vermilion, over a torn terracotta brushstroke. Bold, romantic, faintly scandalous.

Invitation on cream handmade paper with a red lipstick kiss and terracotta brushstroke

The kiss is real. The bride pressed her lips to a sheet of tracing paper; we scanned it at 1200 dpi and kept every crack in the lipstick.

Three screen passes build the vermilion up until it sits proud of the sheet — you can feel the mouth with a fingertip.

The terracotta sweep on the left is pulled by hand with a wide brush, so every one of the ninety cards has a different edge.

Ninety kisses, none of them identical. That was the design.
